Winter Camps

Well, I have at last finished the first English camp. We all managed to get through it with out any major occurrences. The finale day we had one third grade boy literally fly out of his chair and land on a six grade boy and start screaming "Sungsangim" over and over again. Later I found out that the sixth grade boy had teased the third grade boy about me being the older classes' homeroom teacher and the third grade boy was so jealous he attacked. And that the little howler monkey was really saying "She's my teacher! MY TEACHER" over and over again. Yes, I call my third grade students monkeys--their actions are proof that humans are distantly related to monkeys.

English camp number two started today. Instead of 3 girls and 7 boys that I had in the last camp, I now have 5 girls (four showed up today). I don't know what to do with girls. These girls are quiet and shy. Trying to get them to play a game is like pulling teeth, and trying to get them to talk was nearly impossible. Then they whisper in Korean behind your back. Boys are easier. They tell me I am crazy, then I show them just how crazy I can be. They draw breasts on Spiderman, I smack them upside the head and tell they need to attend the biology winter camp if they cannot tell the difference between a man and a woman ( there have been no more DDs for Spiderman on my watch). And you play games, well, they'll talk to you forever. But these girls... and I have the for two hours. I had one last hope that they'd be K-pop fans and that I could teach them English through making them sing English versions of K-pop songs, but no, they aren't. So off to rack my brain.
